The Turtle Topper is a unique and innovative platform designed to meet all the basking requirements of most aquatic turtles. Unlike other basking platforms, which are placed inside the turtle's housing, the Turtle Topper is designed to sit on top of your turtle tank, providing both you and your turtle with many benefits over traditional basking platforms.
Since many aquatic turtles are active swimmers, the Turtle Topper allows you to maintain a deeper water level , resulting in a happier and healthier turtle that will be able to swim freely as in its natural environment.
A deeper water level translates into a larger volume of water, which will therefore stay cleaner for a longer period of time. This provides a healthier environment for your pet turtle, while making cleaning and maintenance easier for you.
With traditional basking platforms, where lower water levels are normally maintained, you will find that your filtration options are normally restricted to internal filters. The Turtle Topper, however, has no such restrictions.
Basking stimulates a turtle's metabolism, aids in digestion, and strengthens its immune system. An important feature of any turtle basking spot, is that it allows your turtle to haul itself out of the water and dry off completely, which is important for your turtle's health. If a basking turtle is not able to dry off completely, it can lead to several health problems, including shell rot and skin infections. The Turtle Topper is securely mounted onto the top of your tank allowing your turtle to dry off completely.
The Turtle Topper has two mounting rims designed to make use of two clamp on light fixtures and the appropriate heat and UVA/UVB compact fluorescent bulbs to handle the lighting and heat requirements of your turtle's basking spot. With the correct bulbs the turtles will be at the perfect distance to maximize the benefits of the UVB and heat bulbs.

I have my two red ear sliders in a 55 gallon tank, theryre about 4 to 5 inches across. I can fill the tank for maximum swimming space and they can go up to the "penthouse" for a nap via the ramp, stay dry with all the proper lighting and plenty of space for both of them to bask. The underneath underwater bench is where they sleep and rest during the night. They are secure and extremely happy little guys. We found them wandering around our back porch when they were no bigger then quarters. Today they live in the lap of luxury with their own penthouse.
I highly recommend this topper to anyone with a tank. The suction cups on either side secure to most any size tank..I love this product and am so happy someone put it on the market! It beats those suction docks big time and the turtles stay completely dry, very important!

I have a 8" RES and he can get up into the turtle topper. It may be plastic, but it isn't flimsy. It obviously looks like plastic though. Kind of like a toy. It works great, which is all that matters to me. I especially like the area on the top for the clamp lamps. It fits up to a 55 gallon tank. Hopefully they soon come out with a bigger one for bigger tanks too. :)

I purchased this product for my two RES and have loved it since it arrived. The turtles adjusted to it immediately, and bask on it several times a day. The plastic on top is sturdy and fits standard light clamps well, and the grate on top allows for easy access.
Overall a great product!

This thing is a must-have if you have an aquatic turtle in an aquarium. Before this came along, I had to keep purchasing cheaply-made suction cup docks. They would last a couple of months before they started to fall apart, and shortly after that they just became useless. The first thing I noticed about the Turtle Topper was how sturdy it feels. It is definitely built to last, so much so that unless I decide to slam it on the floor one day I think it may last forever.
It seemed too good be true when I saw the Turtle Topper, but it really completes my aquarium. I used to have to keep the water level lower to allow basking room for my turtle. Now I can fill it much higher, and the water splashing from the filter is almost inaudible. I can clamp a UV lamp on one side and a heat lamp on the other. Inside is nice and roomy, and I keep a water dish in there and my turtle still has plenty of room to move around. She can bask in the heat up top, or use the underwater dock, and she loves both.
I have one very minor issue. When you have two lamps clamped, you can't open the door on top. Sure, you can take the clamps off, but having to re-set up the lights the exact way you want after makes it not worth it. A door on the side would have been nice, but I really don't have a problem just taking the top off.
All in all, I absolutely love the Turtle Topper, and at around fifty bucks you really can't go wrong. Great price for an amazing product, I can't recommend it enough. Thank you Reptology!

Before I got this basking platform I tried using floating docks for my turtles basking area. Those docks would never last long and as the turtle grew they were never large enough. After a couple of months my turtle would either tear them apart or they would just fall apart. After spending more than $50 on floating docks I decided it was time for a change. I considered building my own basking platform but just couldn't make the time to do it. Finally I came across the Turtle Topper. I was a little skeptical looking at it but figured it was worth a shot. It is the best decision I have made for my turtle. It fits perfectly on my 60 gallon tank and my turtle loves it. When he isn't basking in the top part he is usually lounging on the underwater platform. By having this unit instead of a floating dock I can have the tank filled almost to the top. With the water level being higher there is less strain on the filter and with not having to worry about a floating dock that falls apart the water stays cleaner longer due to the filter not clogging up. The two clamp spots on the Turtle Topper are perfect for having a UV lamp and a heat lamp. Overall the Turtle Topper was the best investment I have made for my turtle and he has been healthier and happier since I installed this item.
