Amazon.com Review Ideal for a household with a large cat or more than one cat, this big, self-cleaning litter box eliminates most odors while keeping the litter pleasingly fresh for tabby. It's ingenious in design: a cat entering the box triggers a sensor; the sensor sets a timer that counts off 10 minutes; then a rake runs through the litter, scooping out clumps and depositing them in a plastic container at the box's end; the container is automatically sealed until the next cat visit, when the raking cycle opens the container for another deposit. (Twelve reusable, disposable containers are included, each 13 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 3-1/2 inches deep.) The litter box can be plugged into a wall socket (AC adapter included) or operated on eight D-cell batteries (not included). It comes with a durable carpeted ramp that leads a cat into the box and cleans its paws on the way out. For safety, the rake stops and reverses at the slightest touch if an object gets in the way. If a cat re-enters the box before the initial 10 minutes have elapsed, the timer automatically resets. The litter box is made of hard plastic and measures 29 inches long, 8-7/8 inches high, and 16-3/4 inches wide. For proper operation, it requires premium, clumping litter but does not need as much as a nonautomated litter box of the same size. For cleaning, the litter tray can be detached. Instructions for acclimating a cat to the box are included. --Fred Brack
Product Description LitterMaid LM900 self-cleaning cat litter box works best with premium clay based cat litter. Your cat must be in front of the sensor for 5 seconds then it will automatically cycle 10 minutes after your cat leaves the litter box, raking the waste into a disposable container, where it and odors are sealed away.

Better than the LitterMaid Elite February 8, 2010 Don W. Yee (Sacramento, Ca USA) This is our 3rd LitterMaid. It's far from perfect but way better than the Elite model. The LitterMaid Elite was very poor design at a higher price. The major design flaw was the rake system that kept on breaking. Also It would stop working from cat litter that constantly clogged the micro switch. Go with the LiterMaid LM900. I got it because my mom is arthritic and it's difficult for her to scoop. Otherwise I wouldn't get one for my mom. Nothing beats hand scooping. Expect your Littermaid to last only 2 years.
cat lover February 6, 2010 Shopper (Indiana) I've used this litter box before. My cat is so spoiled that she won't go in a box that isn't raked and cleaned because she was brought up on this box. It eliminates any odors and is perfect for my busy lifestyle. When mine finally broke I tried using a regular box and within a week I was ordering a new Litter Maid.
Great Time Saver February 5, 2010 Peter S. Angrave Replaced an older model that still worked fine, it was just nasty. This model has an included scooper which fits perfectly between the tynes - nice touch. Make sure you spray the rake and the bottom of the tray with silicone before first use. Leave it in the garage for a few days after to disperse the smell. The poop just slides off once that's done. I use regular grocery bags to line the catchment container - saves a fortune! Nice product. Wouldn't have indoor cats without it!
A Great Time-Saver February 4, 2010 Misti L. Garner I am so impressed with this version of the littermaid. I previously had the blue one and it quite working after a few weeks. This one has kept going! I would highly recommend this product! Just be sure to get this particular model.
Working well so far! February 3, 2010 sarah (usa) We have only had this product for only a few months now and we have two cats one large one not so large! but it seems to be doing the job well! my husband likes it since he cleans the litre tray!
